  • Objects not displaying in AD

I have worked with AD since late 1999 and I have never seen this before. Whenever I create an object; a user, a distribution group, a security group or a computer it takes DAYS for the object to show up in AD. I have even forced replication and it still doesn't show. Then all of a sudden, the object appears.

The configuration is Windows Server 2003 R2 w/SP2.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance.

You might run DCdiag and Netdiag to see if it reports anything.
Also is there anything in the Eventlogs which might be relevant?

That's just it, there's nothing in the event logs that throws up a red flag, or any flags for that matter.

I re-ran dcdiag and netdiag, everything looks good throughout the entire forest and the network configuration looks fine too. I looked at the switch ports both DCs are plugged into and nothing out of the ordinary there.

This one really has me scratching my head.

Was Dcdiag run on the DC that holds the Infrastructure Master role?
If not, try to run Dcdiag on there and also check the event logs.
How's your forest setup and where on it is the Infrastructure master FSMO role?

That's some weird stuff there. Could it possibly be an issue with the rid master?

I would go into ntdsutil and do the file integrity check and the semantic database analysis just to make sure the database is healthy.

When you created the Object did it show up on the server you created it on?

are you using the console to do this or support tools from a workstation?
