  • Moving the Domain Controller container?

Is it possible to move the Domain Controller container to an OU as a subfolder?

For example, i want it to be like:

Forest > Servers > Domain Controllers

    Instead of:

    Forest > Domain Controllers

If it is possible, are there any issues that could occur in doing this?

Before trying to do this, you should carefully consider why you want to do this. Remember that as well as domain-level GPOs, any policies linked to the Servers OU will apply to DCs as well, which may or may not be desirable.

I leave the DCs where they are and just create another OU directly under the domain root for Member Servers.

Also, just FYI, Domain Controllers is an OU not a container. Containers can't have GPOs linked directly to them, which the Domain Controllers OU does (ie, the Default Domain Controller Policy).

Generaly speaking I can't see any benefits in doing that.
As already warned by Gforce you could probably have potential problems down the line.
