  • Configuring multiple domain controller on multiple subnets.

    Hi everyone,

What is the procedure to configure multiple domain controllers on multiple subnets?

Example:- If i have a domain named XYZ.com & the IP address for this domain controller is 192.168.0.1. Now i want to configure an additional domain controller with an IP address 172.16.0.1

So what is requirement or procedure to do this activity successfully.

    Thanks in advance.

You're going to have to route between the two subnets somehow. If there's a firewall between the two you'll have to open the ports needed by AD and other services.

You'll also have to create new subnets/sites within AD sites and services snapin.

      Thanks stamandster,

Is that the only thing i need to do?

Actually this question was asked to me on one of my interview. I answered him about the route as well as about the subnet/sites but he replied me that we need to do something more to complete this activity successfully.

So i need to know what is that???

      Thanks in Advance....

        Your interview??

If you don't know how to do this properly perhaps the job you are looking for isn't appropriate for your skill level? Just sayin'

The other thing is you'll also have to setup DNS/DHCP for each zone (forwarding, root hints, etc).
