  • AD question concerning 2008 domains and SBS 2003

    Hello all! This is my first post here, but I've got much helpful info here in the past.

    Here's my situation;

    I started with a company that has a SBS 2003 at a collo. Its domain is mydomain.local. It has a live website and mail server (not Exchange) configured.

    At our main office we have a 2003 AD domain, also called mydomain.local. And at yet another collo we have a child domain, production.mydomain.local. There is a point to point VPN set up between the main office and the collo.

    The SBS server has a software firewall that has been problems from time to time, so I want to get it behind a firewall appliance and create another VPN between it and our main office. It does not, at present, communicate in any way with the 2003/2008 domains.

    My question is, will there be any issues concerning the domians being named the same? I'm assuming that if I only allow POP, IMAP, SMTP, FTP, RDP between the locations, that should mitigate any problems.

    Thanks in advance.
