  • Strange child-parent domain issue

I hope somebody has had this problem and has found a solution for it:

We have a domain that consists of a parent and a child domain with a two-way trust. The DCs are mostly 2003, SP2 - and recently two new additional DCs were added, both 2003, SP2,R2.

We are not sure is this is the result of adding the new DCs, but we are having the following weird problem:

We have a user in the child domain that belonged to a universal security group that resides in parent domain. This has worked fine, but now it seems that suddenly the user, when viewing his properties, is not a member of that group anymore. Furthermore, when we try to re-add him to the group - we cannot see the parent domain - only the child domain.

If we view the universal group from the parent domain, that said user is still listed as a member.

We also found out that if we would like to add a group from the child domain to a universal group in the parent domain, there is *no* problem. We can view the parent domain tree with no problem as long as we are dealing with a group and not with a single user.

    We are at a loss....

Can anybody shed a light on this p-roblem?

    Thanks!

      L4ndy that's a good call. Are all DC's GC's?
