  • Can you Import MD5 Hash passwords into AD

Pretty sure I know the answer to this one, but thought I would put it out there anyway.

As part of an AD Deployment we are aiming for Single Sign On across multiple platforms. (We are a web hosting company). We want to migrate all the auth for EVERYTHING eventually into Active Directory.

Currently all the passwords under Linux, etc are stored in one way MD5 Hash's. Now as far as im aware there is no way to import anything other than a clear text password into Active Directory, which therefore means you cant import a MD5.

If someone could confirm this for me, or alternatively any suggestions/feedback/ideas.

If you must keep their current passwords then look into a PAM (Pluggable Authentication Module).
Here are some of the options you are faced with: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb463169.aspx
Look into the PAM section to see if it helps.
