So I'm getting mixed information on what to do the MS documentation tells me to not have a DC with the Infrastructure Role as a GC but other people have told me it's fine.

The part that scares me is this

"Do not put the Infrastructure master role on the same domain controller as the global catalog server. If the Infrastructure master runs on a global catalog server it stops updating object information because it does not contain any references to objects that it does not hold. This is because a global catalog server holds a partial replica of every object in the forest."

    Any thoughts?
GoogleFu is strong with this one ^

In a multiple domain forest you should not make the Infrastructure Master a GC. In a single domain forest it's perfectly fine to do so.

As Joe says. Unless all DCs are GCs in a multi-domain forest, you need to ensure the role is not on a GC.
