  • reverse lookup not being populated on server 2000

    Hi all,

I did a search on this site and in google - I found some solution but they are not seems to be working for me.

    I have a server 2000 SP4 - DHCP, AD, DNS.
As we are making some major changes - move from Lotus Notes to Exchange and other accounting software needs to run on server 2003 or 2008 I am in the process of making sure my environment is ready as much as possible. One of the items that I will be doing is to migrate the DC and all records from the server 200o to a server 2003 but before I do that I want to ensrue that my DNS is working. I notice that my reverse lookup zone is not papulated apart from 4 records.
It is an intergated zone with AD

How long does it take for the reverse lookup zone to get populated with all the records?
I have a feeling that waiting 3 hours is not long enought.

    Thank you
    Avi

Is your DHCP scope set to update the PTR records??

Have you enabled the optioin on your servers NIC card to update the PTR records??
