  • Duplicate permissions after file server migration

    Hello everybody,

after a domain migration (groups, users, and computers) I migrated a file server, and all worked fine.

The only issue is, on every file/folder the rights appear as assigned twice (for instance, "DOMAIN\Group1" is repeated twice when you open the "Properties / Security" tab of a folder).

Is it caused by SID history? Can I get rid of it?

Moreover, all of the Domain Admins rights on files/folders/shares/etc. seem to be lost.
I understand this is not a migrated group, but what is the solution?
Should I reassign all the permissions for the Domain Admins group again?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Ax

What did you use to migrate the data? I believe that the registry can be exported on the old machine and imported in the new to re-map the shares.

I used ADMT to migrate everything.
Migration was from a Win2003 domain to another one (inter-forest).

Sorry for bumping it up, but I would like to understand if the Security Migration Wizard should clean up the duplicate rights...
Moreover, what can I do to estabilsh Domain Admins rights again? Should the Security Migration Wizard fix that too?

        Thanks in advance.
