It may have been a DC at one point but wasn't cleaned up completely. If you try to open it you will probably find it has no NTDS etc
      cheers

Re: Active Directory Sites and Services.

Both of these servers were never domain controllers, while doing a search in Google. I saw this but I don't think this is the case. The OS-DC are DC's but the OS-Sys are not. By the way the NTDS setting is not there.

Well probably they has been DC's in the past. Maybe in a time during a migration or somewhat.
Probably they are not demoted correctly and you have to clean it up then.

Re: Active Directory Sites and Services.

My guess would be someone may have accidentally run dcpromo and then removed it.

Have a look at section 4 here:
            http://www.hsc.fr/ressources/article.../index.html.en

Look for a log file (obviously assuming the server hasn't been wiped or another server with the same name existed).
            cheers

Thank you for all the replies,sSome sites suggest that when you run dcpromo, sometimes it does not clear all the records. I am just going to delete these records from this tool and verify that these servers look good after. Since these are not domain controllers.

If they aren't DCs then there should be no problem removing them from AD. Obviously backups are important though.
                cheers
