  • Separate Domain for Web Authentication

    Hello,

We currently have our ad setup across 4 domain controllers with the associated groups and ouís in place (30 OUís). Over the last 2 years we have moved to a lot more linux based web apps, moodle/elgg etc which support ldap queries and authentication.

We are looking to see if itís possible to replicate users and passwords to a new domain or open-ldap domain structure that will just contain one OU which holds all the users and passwords. This way the web based apps only need to search one OU container.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Cheers

    Chris

Re: Separate Domain for Web Authentication

I could understand wanting a separate realm for authentication for security, but simply to avoid doing a subtree ldap search? That seems a bit overkill..

In any case, would the other Directory be Active directory as well?

What OS is your AD domain? Will it only be your domain users accessing the web applications?
