  • Removing old groups from NTFS permissions on folders

    Hi there,

We had two domains that were running on our network based on a trust relationship. One of them was recently decomissioned however, there are still some old SID's ( in SSDL format e.g S-1-5-21-435..) which I think relate to the old domain that we need to remove from the NTFS permissions on the folders. I was wondering if anyone knew of an efficient way to remove these.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

First of all I'd use this: Tool from the Petri site to determine whether the SID can be translated to an object, just in case it isn't what you think it is.
After that you can use SetACL to manage the permissions and remove any entries you don't need.

    Cheers
