  • [newbie] disable password complexity

    I would like to disable password complexity from my test Active Directory virtual machine running on Windows Server 2008.

    Any ideas?

    1. Start --> Run --> GPMC.msc
    2. Expand 'Forest:<Your Forest>' --> Domains --> 'Your Domain'
    3. Right click 'Default Domain Policy' and choose 'Edit'
    4. Expand: 'Computer Configuration' --> 'Policies' --> 'Windows Settings' --> 'Security Settings' --> 'Account Policy' --> 'Password Policy'
    5. On the right pane, double click 'Password must meet complexity requirements'
    6. Change to 'Disable'
    7. Start --> Run --> gpupdate

      In Server 2008, go into server manager
      Expand features node
      Should be in there -- if not, add it as a new feature

      The file seems to be:
      %SystemRoot%\system32\gpmc.msc

          You can still add the admin tools even if the machine is a member server
