  • Domain Account Login Failed

    I have a windows 2003 domain with 4 domain controllers installed and and configured with Primary DNS installed and configured on each of the domain controllers. If the link connecting any of the domain controllers to the first installed server breaks, no user can logon to any of the other domain controllers.
    What must be done in order to be able to use the active directory on each of the domain controllers?

    Are all of the DCs Global Catalogs?

    Which DC(s) hold the FSMO roles - I would assume all five are on the original server?

      1. Start --> Run --> dssite.msc

      Perform the following for each AD Site:
      2. Expand Sites --> <Your Site Name> --> Servers

      Perform the following for each server in each site:
      3. Expand <Your Server>
      4. Right Click on 'NTDS Settings' and click 'Properties'
      5. Verify that 'Global Catalog' is checked. If not, check it.

      Also, which DNS server is defined for all clients?
      You should make sure at least two DNS servers are configured for clients.
