  • win 2k to 2003 upgrade

    Hi every body
we have three domain DCs to be upgraded to windows 2003
    the current configuration is
dc a has all fsmo roles and
the second and third dcs are addtional dcs
all three dcs have dns zone installed
what steps should be taken to ensure proper upgrade (clean install)
note ::: we had exchange 2000 installed and then removed but we still have some properties of exchange seen in AD users and computers eg :
Microsoft Exchange System Objects, like(SystemMailbox{25EBF7C0-C930-4C67-83BC-86581FC41C67}),(globalevents 09672498 public folder)
and we still have a lic server pointing to the old exchange server
is there any problem withe these objects being there ???
can i just delete these objects or what to do ??
    thanks

Re: win 2k to 2003 upgrade

You can't un-prep the schema for Exchange 2000 so you will need to check this KB
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314649

Generally there will be no issues with upgrading to 2003. If you are going to R2 then make sure you use the adprep from the second CD.

Run DCDiag and NetDiag (link in the Misc forums sticky) and make sure they complete without issues first.

Make sure you have full backups of everything and then stop replication on the schema master.

upgrade it, test everything is ok and then enable replication to the rest.

I don't personally think I would care if they were there. Well, it may bug me but it isn't life threatening.
