  • Windows 2008 Schema Extension

just want to confirm schema extension process from my environment. I have a domain call uthoutson.lcl. I have a child domain called sw.uthouston.lcl.

Currently we are at Windows 2003 R2 level. So in order to introduce Windows 2008 domain controllers I need to:

    1. Run D:\sources\adprep\adprep /forestprep in uthouston.lcl(extend Schema forest wide)
    2. Run D:\sources\adprep\adprep /domainprep /gpprep in uthouston.lcl(extend root domain)
    3. RunD:\sources\adprep\adprep /domainprep /gpprep in sw.uthouston.lcl(extend child domain)

Basically I am little confuse if I need to run domain prep in root domain(uthouston.lcl) where i will also be running forestprep. Thanks in advance.

Domain prep in every domain including the initial one.

I have a nagging thought about bitlocker on Vista as well with this upgrade but can't find the link. Will have a check, don't worry if you aren't using vista tho.
    cheers
