  • DNS problem

    Hello,

I installed a new domain called xxx.com. configured DNS and all other services
Since then inside clients can't see the internet site ( www.xxx.com ).

nslookup gives me "non existent domain"
trace "unable to resolve target system name...."

    What did I forget ?

    tnx.

So you have an internal domain with the same name as your external Internet domain name - XXX.COM?

Do you have a DNZ Zone named XXX.COM?

Add a manual entry for WWW into that zone and point it to the IP of your site. Do the same for any resource that's available for the outside users.

On your DNS Server open the DNS management console, this should auto connect to your local DNS server.

          Expand Forward Lookup Zones

          Expand xxx.com

Right Click and Create new host (A Record). Set name to www and set IP of your external web server.

This is why it's best practice to use internal domain names (e.g xxx.local), if you have more than one external resource you will need to create these also.
