  • Web App With Active Directory

Hi guys. I'm architecting a web application which uses Active Directory/LDAP for security. I was wondering what was typically used as a primary key when storing data for that user in the web app's db. What is the most common value that is usually taken from AD to reference/store data for that user in the db?
    Thanks,
    Tony

You can't really compare ldap to a relational database but I guess the DN would be the object identifier.

We don't have ownership of AD. We can only reference it for credentials. So we need to use Oracle 10g as the repository for all the other data in the system. I've been told objectGUID is better to use than DN becuase DN is not rename safe and can also be a bit long and thus wastes space. Any thoughts about that?
      Thanks,
      Tony

Yes GUID or SID would be better.
