  • Stub Zone

    Hi

I have 2 Active directory forest in my lab environment company1.local and company2.local. To create stub zone for company2.local in company1.local domain DNS server is it required first to estalish the trust between 2 forest.

No and you shouldn't create a stub zone either, instead use conditional forwarders.

I agree. Conditional forwarders are the way to go.

        Re: Stub Zone

Both ways Stub zone or Conditional Forwarders would do the job nearly the same, there is hardly any difference between them both, therefore you can add a stub zone which has an added value that conditional forwarder doesn't , and it is AD Integrated - if you chose so.
Conditional forwarder is per DNS server (although you can make a Forwarder AD Integrated but not through the UI).

as for your question , No a trust is not needed for either path you chose (Forwarder or Stub), DNS is not depended on AD, DNS could be even a 3rd party or even a UNIX machine.
