  • Parent Child domain connectivity

    Hi,

I have one Parent domain (xyz.com) with Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition. Now I have created a Child domain (corp.xyz.com) which is having Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition. Through Active Directory Users and Computers when I try to connect to the child domain on the parent domain it gives error. "Windows cannot connect to the new domain for the following reason: The server is not operational"

Whereas if I connect the parent domain from the child dc is easily connects.

Please help me in resolving this issue.

    Thanks,
    Amit

    Re: Parent Child domain connectivity

Has the child domain been properly create on the DNS server of the root domain?

Most of these issue's are DNS related, so that should give you a good hint to start looking.

      Re: Parent Child domain connectivity

I can see corp under the forward lookup zone of xyz.com. I have added the dc which is also dns server of corp.xyz.com under the name server details of xyz.com domain. But in replication zone of xyz.com I have selected to all the domain controller in xyz.com domain. Both the DNS are Active Directroy intergrated.
