Can I set GPO to stop my users at larger from access web sites, stop aim, yahoo, trillian, etc and set default to my company homepage?

If so: how do I go about making it happen?

    Windows 2000
    1 domain <
windows xp and 4 windows 2000 as as clients w/ solaris9 and 1 linux

Under the GPO table we have nothing in there.
I click new and get to properties.. then what do I choose to get it activated?

    Thanks for your assitance

so you want to redirect for example: www.yahoo.com to www.company.com?

well you can edit the hosts file.
    http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm for example...

or using ISA where you can redirect them, or maybe even by DNS.
oh and maybe you can use restricted sites.

So there a lot of options...

(i was ill for about 3 weeks, so maybe i'm a litte bit wrong with it..)

The things I want GPO to do:

1)block web sites like watches.com so people wont surf
2)block instant messenger, aim, yahoo, IRQ(IRC)
3)make all the computers homepage mycompany.com

      Thanks

You need to be looking at using some web filtering software then (like websense or surf control) or at least putting in something to create a proxy and only allowing access through your proxy. ISA might be a good(ish) choice although i prefer websense for this sort of thing.

I would also recommend Burst Technology. There excellent product,BT WebFilter, works as an extension in ISA and is very easy to set up and use. Its also a great product in a education enviroment, for those interested..
