dsadd issue

    I created a txt file with user information
    like this CN=Neville Longbottom,OU=Gryffindor, OU=students,DC=hogwarts,dc=local" -samid nlongbottom -pwd
    [email protected] -fn neville -ln longbottom
    but when i run this cmd

    For /f "tokens=*" %i in (newusers.txt) do @dsadd user %i

    I get an error saying " * was an unexpected error


    what am i doing wrong

    Is that your exact code? You seem to have a " without it closing.

    If that's not your code then please post your exact code so we can understand the issue better

      I did the command exactly as it was posted.

        If each line in the text file looks like:
        Code:
        "CN=Neville Longbottom,OU=Gryffindor, OU=students,DC=hogwarts,dc=local" -samid nlongbottom -pwd [email protected] -fn neville -ln longbottom
        Then the command should be:
        Code:
        FOR /F "delims=" %i in (newusers.txt) do @dsadd %i
        But it does not make your life much easier - you still need to populate the text file. It would be much easier to create a CSV file with new accounts data and use script to process it.

          I appreciate your help I found a script that reads from a .xls file and I got it to work last night.I will try using a csv file and a script to see which i prefer.thanks again have a great 4th.
