  • Cleaning up AD

    Hello,

I'm wondering if someone would be able to help. I have an issue with our forest at the moment with that someone set up another domain in the forest and got a trust set up etc and then they rebuilt the machine.

So... i'm left with trying to clear it up as i need to put the domain back and everytime i try and recreate it i get a message saying a domain with that name already exists.

    I have run through
    http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;216498
but i havent done steps 1 to 16 as i dont want to destroy one of the domain controllers that we already have running.

    All of the DC's were/are windows 2003 sp2.

    Any advice appreciated,

    Thanks,
    ieuuk

      Re: Cleaning up AD

Sorry, i have just managed to work it out.

What i needed to do was go in to ntdsutil and then in the metadata cleanup i could do a 'remove selected domain'

now that i have got it removed i can now recreate it again.

      Thanks,
      ieuuk
