Anyone know of a way to fire an event or alert maybe a week in advance if a certificate is going to expire?

Yes, set up a reminder in Outlook to alert you a week in advance.

      hah!

Thanks but I was looking for something a little more elaborate. We want to integrate into Sharepoint and consume and publish it as a service.

I've been searching around on MSDN and found a hook into CA Services.

I'm not sure if it's possible... however I'm interested.

Well this would be messy but you can use certutil to dump what you need than parse that into sharepoint.
