  • How to add remote servers in a datacenter to our existing Active Directory

Hello. I am looking to add a few servers at a remote data center to our existing Active Directory and I am running into problems.

I've added a new Site under AD Sites and Services, and also created a site link in between the new site and the existing.

Now I login via RDP to the remote servers and try to add them to our existing domain - lets call it domain.net

when I do this the server complains of not being able to contact a domain controller in domain.net.

We have the IP address of domain.net resolving to a member server (not a DC) in our domain - is this the problem? If I change DNS to point domain.net to a public IP on one of our domain controllers - should we be able to join the domain then, or am I missing something else?

    Thanks
