  • Profile copying

    Greetings,
I have a XP pro machine (named testme) with local profile for domain1\ksukat. I have outlook , and desktop folders, etc on this local profile. Domain1 is a NT4 PDC domain.

I have an active directory server and an active directory domain domain2. I joined testme to the domain2 domain. I logged into 'testme' as the local machine admin. Went to my computer properties, advanced tab and the profiles button. Selected the profile domain1\ksukat and pressed the Copy To button. Typed in domain2\ksukat. Didn't generate any errors or messages. Logged out and back into the machine as user domain2\ksukat. None of the data from domain1\ksukat was copied to domain2\ksukat (ie desktop folders, outlook pst files, etc).

Am I misunderstanding what the Copy To function does for profiles ?

    Any guidance greatly appreciated.

    thanks.

    Re: Profile copying

use User State Migration Tool (USMT) for that.
