  • Site link analyzer

    Hi,

    We have around 36 Dc across the globe, while doing audite of site link cost we realize that the existing cost should be change to the lower value to improve/decrease the replication timing.

    Existing Setup

    Link Cost = 300
    Replication interval = 30

    Protocol
    Intrasite = RPC
    Intersite = IP

    We are looking for free tool or script which will give recommended value after checking/diagnosis of the netwrok/MS network.

    Kindly guide me if this is out of box, Need Suggestion/recommendation from experts.

    Regards
    MK

    Re: Site link analyzer

    The cost is only used to determine which path to take; least cost will win.

    Personally I would always draw a diagram with link speeds, utilisation and mark out which sites need updates from other sites quicker (some may not need updates for long periods. You can then see the best routes and plan that way. I don't know of a tool as such but the KCC does its own calculations to start with.

    Do you have 2003 across the board, are you noticing problems etc as these could require other fixes (or change the recommendations) rather than changing replication paths.

    This is only a personal opinion though.
    cheers

      Hi,

      thanks for the reply....

      Yes my DC are win2k3 I can see little delay in replication for all DC's, not able to point our from where to start, do you repadmin parmater which will give the all DC replication status(seating on one comp).

      and ofcourse repadmin /kcc parameter also.

      Thanks

          Re: Site link analyzer

          I would highly recommend you read the following Thread, it talks almost about the same thing you got.
          even though the thread starts with a bit different topic , but it goes a lot into site links and replication also nearly the same size of a Domain you got.
          I started this thread since I experienced slow replication in my DNS Partition zone.
