  • Search in AD

    Guys,

I got a very simple[I think this will be a very basic thing] doubt! about AD search.

I have got more than 10000 of users in different groups in AD. Recently, I have noticed that some people are included in some critical group. I can find out who all are the members of group from Group > members. But how should I define in the search to find with username, member of.

    Included a snap.

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Re: Search in AD

If you care only about direct group membership of a specific group, the following query should do the trick:
    Code:
    (&(objectcategory=person)(objectclass=user)(memberof=cn=mygroup,ou=groups,dc=domain,dc=com))
Replace the "cn=mygroup,ou=groups,dc=domain,dc=com" with the distinguished name of the group you are interested in and paste is as custom LDAP query.

      Re: Search in AD

I prefer command line tools for this.
      DSGET/DSQUERY/ETC

DSQUERY GROUP -NAME %Name of the group%

      DSGET GROUP -MEMBERS > C:\Groupname.csv

      Code:
DSQUERY GROUP -NAME ACCOUNTING | DSGET GROUP -MEMBERS
