  • Recover Active Directory from files

    Hello,

I had an Windows 2003 server with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP an Terminal Services configured. Unfortunately the server's disk crashed. I managed to get majority of system files from the dead disk and am wondering if it is possible to recover Active directory from salvaged files from a crashed disk? If so I would appreciate, if someone could give me some guidelines or point me to the right direction.

    Thanks,
    jiih

Re: Recover Active Directory from files

Do you have a recent System State backup?
That is the recommended way to recover AD

You could try this link to see if it offers any helpful advice

In general, have multiple DCs to avoid precisely this problem, or make regular system state backups

Unless you have a system state backup, those files will not help you.
