  • w2k3 enterprice additional domain problem :( i am tired

please dont tell me to try adprep /forest or /domainprep command.because i have done that. but the problem still exists.i have also raised domain function from 2000 to 2003. but all of these didn't work. is there any other way to set up just a simple additional domain. (in addition, the existing DC is server2003R2 enterprise, and i installed 2003 Standard edition to the new one)

    The operation failed because:

The Active Directory Installation Wizard cannot continue because the forest is not prepared for installing Windows Server 2003. Use the Adprep command-line tool to prepare both the forest and the domain. For more information about using the Adprep, see Active Directory Help.

"The version of the Active Directory schema of the source forest is not compatible with the version of Active Directory on this computer."

You need to run the adprep /forestprep that is on disk 2 of the R2 installation media. this needs to be done from the server that holds the FSMO role: Shema master.

Then the adprep /domainprep that is also on disk 2 of the R2 installation media. this needs to be done in each domain from the server that holds the FSMO role: Infrastructure master

To find what server holds which FSMO role, use the following article:

Technology is only as good as those who use it
