  • Netlogon Share Missing on windows 2003 DC's

    Hi,

We have three Windows 2003 Domain Controllers.
We are able to join computers to the network and create user accounts.

To Check the AD health status :

    1. We ran ADReplmon. DS Version and Sysvol version for Default Domain controller policy were mismatching for all the DCs.
    2. Further Ultrasound was used to check the FRS status. Now we find Netlogon share is missing in all of the DCs.

How to rebuild this folder with permission ? How did it got dissappeared in the first case ? If it has been dissapeared why there has been no functionality loss ?

we need to make sure before we proceed on recreating this folder and provide share permission.

Please provide us your valuable input.

    Thanks,
    Tkr

If the netlogon shares were missing on all DC's, you would not be able to log on to the domain. Is this the case?

it sound to me like you might have a corruption of your SYSVOL
        and/or The SYSVOL Jet engine.
look at the FRS Event log and see if this seems to be the case , if it is you need to restore your SYSVOL using D4/D2 Burflag.

          Hi,

All the DCs may have different USNs. Just have a look at below link:

          http://forums.petri.com/showthread.p...7288#post87288

Netlogon and sysvol must be shared on any of the DC as I think that users in your env are able to login. I f this is the case first we need to make sure that ports for FRS and RPC are open between DCs and if they are then we need to go for D2/D4 restore of FRS.
