  • remove subdomain from AD domain

    hello.

i installed a subdomain (srb.hq.xxxxxxxxx.com) to my existing domain a few days ago (hq.xxxxxxxxxxxx.com) - now id like to remove it.

i did NOT install DNS on the sub DC server when creating the AD/domain ..... when i now try to remove it i get numerous different errors such as:

    1. The RPC Server is unavailable
    2. (something to the effect of cannot find the DC for the main domain ...

my question is .... is there any way to remove the sun domain from the main domain w/out "dcpromo"? i do NOT care about he sub DC machine - it will get formatted & reinstalled - however as a member server.

BUT i cannot format the main DC (hq.xxxxxxxxxxxx.com) - tooo much stuff to recreate as well as downtime.

Thanks in advance from any & every body!!!
