  • How.to.add.computer.account.to.a.computer.group

    To whom it may concern,

Situation: 2003 AD Domain, 1,500 XP Clients.

Run dsa.msc and I see there are two computer groups under "Users" CN. They are Domain Controllers, Domain Computers.

I create another group called ComputerGroup, and I try to add a computer account to it but it doesn't let me do it at all. Even though the computer account and computer group are in the same container, OU.

    Pleaes advise.

Actually I did a little search and I was able to add a computer to a group by using the command

    dsadd computer

The reason that I want to organize computer clients into groups because later on I will use Group Policy filter. Windows 2003 AD with GPMC are excellent.

But I'm still unable to perform the task with GUI. Please advise. Thanks.

    Regards,

When you press ADD to add the computer to the group, you'll see that the pop up window will let you change the object types you're looking for. Add computers to the object types, and you're done.
