  • Please help !! AD Replication Issue

    Hi

After I restored my DC to a new server by ghost, I run the dcdiag, I got replication issue. Also, I restored my BDC to a new server, and want to make those two server to replicate each other. But looks, it's not working. Please help, thanks in advance.

Re: Please help !! AD Replication Issue

Do you have a backup of the servers? Not a image.

I've never tried restoring a DC with an imaging solution before, I've always been told to never image DC's.

Can you fill us in a little bit more on the situation?

Is there a DC still running that has been untouched?

Re: Please help !! AD Replication Issue

yes, my pdc and bdc are still running. Now, I found something new, my bdc's ntds is located in it's D drvie, and I didn't ghost BDC's D drive, so I'm gonna copy this folder to my new server, then i'll see. If it's still not working. I'll try delete my BDC from PDC, coz I can't demote it( always say replication reject from my PDC). It's wired, they can find each other, but can not replicate

      Any suggestions

      I'll appreciate

Re: Please help !! AD Replication Issue

Now what do you mean by "still running"?

That you restored the machines via a Ghost image and they're up and running after being reimaged?

Could you please describe to us your environment and the process that you've been going through. From before this whole problem started up until the point you're at now. Let us know what machines you had/have, what was done to them, and what you have now.

What we have so far is very unclear.

Re: Please help !! AD Replication Issue

Restoring a DC from an image is not supported if your AD has more than 1 DC.
If you restore a DC from an image, starting with W2K3 SP1, all other DCs will block replication with the DC that was restored from image.

The only supported way of restoring a DC is AD-aware backup software that uses System State restore.
