Who knows how big the active directory replication traffic is ?

Ok it depends on the size of the location (users, Ou, netlogon, dns-integrated zone)

But are there certain formulas or something ?
I used a tool from Microsoft but this s*cked big times.

The best answer would be: test, test,test...
AD replication traffic is a funcion of the number of changes in AD per given amount of time.

Not less important is whether you are talking about W2K or W2K3 AD. W2K3 AD introduces Linked Value Replication (LVR), which greatly reduces the replication traffic of multivalued attributes.

I would suggest you taking a good look at the following link. No real numbers, but you will get a good idea how the replication actually works.
