  • Changing IP after promoted to DC

    After promoting to DC, shall I change IP address of that Windows 2003 server. Please give me some info on this.

    Info on what?! A decision like this depends upon many, many factors. Give us some info and we'll try to help you find a solution - but with the question as it is, it's impossible to answer...

      Hi,
      Yes, you can change the IP Address of the DC. But that depends on many factors like:
      1. Changing the Network Schema IP Addressing
      2. Extending the IP Addressing, if it requires that changing the DC IP.
      ect ect.

      Recommendations:
      1. After you change the IP Address of the DC, correct your DNS Host A record of the DC.
      2. Correct the Reverse Lookups PTR record of the DC.
      3. Correct the DHCP DNS Provider.
      4. Correct the Proxy Automatic Discovery, if its availble in the Network.
      5. Test that, and then implement it in the production .
