  • AD: Newly promoted DC not in Forest _msdcs domain

I am working on an AD project and this is the scenario. I am managing a new domain tree (not a child domain)

I do not have any rights in the forest domain. My domain name is: Taurus and DNS
    in Taurus domain is AD-Integrated

DC1 is in Taurus domain and in a site called Alpha is a bridgehead server and can contact the forestroot domain

DC2 is also in Taurus domain and in a site called Omega and is a bridgehead server, It can only talk to DC1

Now am installing DC3 into the Taurus domain but in Omega site , please note that DC3 can only talk to DC2

I have set the preferred primary dns of DC3 to IP address of DC2.

After installing AD on DC3 i noticed that there is no entry in the _msdcs domain of the forest root and there is no connection object for inbound replication from DC2 to DC3 but there is a connection object for DC2 to replicate from the newly promoted DC3.

Another question I may have is how do newly promoted DCs register themselves in the forest _msdcs subdomain

Any assistance, and even a reference to KB article would be appreciated.

    Many thanks
