  • Simple way To give a thorough explanation of AD to Apple....

    Hi All:

I need a way to explain AD to a predominately Apple User Base that is pre-disposed in an "anti-microsoft" way. I have been working on this for 2 weeks now and everything I have proposed is to technical. English is not my forte'

    I really appreciate any direction/help/white papers....ANYTHING.

There is nothing more aggravating than being on this side (MSOFT) of the table.

Oh if you haven't figured it out I am in a k12 educational system.

With over 40,000 users / 8,000 Desktops (3500 IBM/4500 MAC) this is a daily struggle. So again tia for any help/advice.

When I talked with our Unix guys about AD integration, I partially used this presentation:
    http://www.membrain.com/pres/ad_inte...3_document.htm
Specifically the "Demystifying Active Directory" part.

How long do you want the explanation to be ? Is the target audience mostly technical or end-users ?

      Hi Thanks,

that gets me a starting point. The audience are teachers who are chosen to be "Technical Advisors". They are mainly apple based.

      Again Thanks

And what are you using currently as the authentication source ?

AD on it's own is server side and should not have much influence on the way Apple based clients do their stuff. If you are planning on switching them to MS clients, this is definitely another case though...
