  • Dns namespace and Active directory

    Hopefully someone can help
    Scenario: Company A (Acme.com) buys out Company B (Widget.com).
Acme and Widget are connected by a reliable high speed private line.
Acme wants to migrate widget.com into the acme.com domain. Domain
controllers, DNS, and Exchange servers will be located in both locations

    Questions:
    1. The Networking admin group insist that they want a dns sub-domain of
widget.acme.com. The AD group wanted to have a flat
domain structure (no ad subdomain just add additional domain controllers at
widget.com's location). Is this possible? If so How?
Doesn't the dns name space have to match the AD namespace?

Re: Dns namespace and Active directory

    couldnt you:

    create cross forrest trust,

On acme's forrest root domain set a delegation to widget dns servers and do the same at the widget end

use FQDN's to resolve DNS across the 2 forrests
