  • Setting up DNS server on a new DC in child domain

    Hi guys,

In our organisation we have created a new child domain - child1.dom.com.
We have the 1st dc as - dc1.child1.dom.com.
    I have setup a second DC called - dc2.child1.dom.com

I would like to install DNS server in this domain on dc2.child1.dom.com for redundancy.
When I ran dcpromo on the new dc, dns server was not installed prior.
After promoting the server to a dc, I installed DNS server but I dont know how to add the zones correctly.
I am not so hot with DNS so my question is how to configure this DNS server to be fully integrated in the domain? I was half under the impression that it would do the zone config automatically it being a dc.

Or do I have to create the zones manually? If so, pri/sec/stub?

    Help appreciated.

    Ed.
