  • Event 1058 after adding second DC

Having a problem with adding a second DC. Event logs of the forst DC were clean prior to adding a second DC. Ran the roles wizard and made a computer an Additional DC.

DNS is not yet installed on the second DC as I didn't want to introduce anything new before these errors were resolved.

Immediately after the second DC was added the following errors are appearing in the event log of the first DC:

    Event 1058

Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO CN={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=<domain name>,DC=com. The file must be present at the location <\\<domain name>\sysvol\<domain name>\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini>. (Access Denied.). Group Policy processing aborted.

    Event 1030:

Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. Check the
event log for possible messages previously logged by the policy engine
that describes the reason for this.

Both servers have been rebooted. I tried some of the fixes others have used, checked the permissions, tried rebuilding the acl of the effected policy, ect., however the longest the error has gone away for is a couple of hours, then it will start up again.

Has anyone come accross this before? Any possible solution?

Many, many thanks in advance for any assiatance.

    Additional Info:

Took the second DC off line and the errors went away. It appears as if this is happening when the Second DC is online. Startnge thing is the errors are appearing on the First DC. Hope this ifo will help.

    Many thanks again..

Does the second DC have SYSVOL shared ? Looks like it is either not sharing SYSVOL or has a corrupted or stale version of SYSVOL
