  • LDAP Clarification

Ok today my boss and I sort of argued over LDAP. He said that it is not a protocol and I say it is considered a protocol.
What do you guys think, if it is a protocol can you give me some links.

IMHO, just agree with your boss. It keeps him quiet
As long as he doesnt expect LDAP to be able to do things it can't do, does it matter if he thinks its a Platypus, a Poncho or a Protocol?

            next thing: ip protocol?
Bosses should shut there mouth and let us do the job

Ok Ldap= Lightweight Directory Access Protocol
LDAP uses the following port numbers TCP:389 / UDP:389 and is IANA registerd...

see http://www.iana.org/numbers.html where you can find the RFC's which is a nice reading for you're boss
see http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers where you can find all the registerd port numbers.

Take a bet with him for a pie or something

I don't know how you're boss is, but personally I would like to kick his ass and demanding a clarification on a funny way
                Just for enjoying myself.
If he is my boss or not, he's still a human so i wouldn't care

                  Do you hate humans Dumber?

Maybe it's a test of your ingenuity and research skills. He's probably expecting you to come back with all the IANA stuff to prove him wrong...

No i don't hate humans, but i hate managers/bosses who are thinking the know more than me... I'm not saying that i do know everything... however i don't like to discuss with a boss over a protocol.. I've better things to do, as moderating Petri.co.il

If a boss is testing me while i already in bussiness, then he's quit late. If he has any doubts on me, He shouldn't hire me in the first place
