  • Replication taking place one way

    Hi Group,

I have got 2 DC's with DFS and FRS running on them. Funnily enough the
replication seems to be taking place only single way i.e from DC1 ->
DC2. Earlier it was both ways DC1 -> DC2 and DC2->DC1. Not the replication cannot take place from DC2->DC1.
I checked other settings like DNS, firewall etc but here are no issues with it.
Is there something else i got to look at to resolve this issue.

I keep on getting these errors simultaneously on DC1 :

The DFS Replication service is stopping communication with partner DC2
for replication group somedomainl.net\server\documents due to an error.
The service will retry the connection periodically.

    Additional Information:
Error: 1726 (The remote procedure call failed.)
    Connection ID: 7DFB862A-7731-4D6F-880E-B4BE8DACC816
    Replication Group ID: 15F3E86A-6F27-4514-8CC3-5622D31CD9DD

    AND

The DFS Replication service successfully established an inbound
connection with partner DC2 for replication group
    somedomain.net\server\documents.

    Additional Information:
    Connection Address Used: dc2.somedomain.net
    Connection ID: 7DFB862A-7731-4D6F-880E-B4BE8DACC816
    Replication Group ID: 15F3E86A-6F27-4514-8CC3-5622D31CD9DD

There are no firewalls running on the DCs. I tried troubleshooting with
sonar and frsdiag.exe. It does not show up any errors. Please help me
    out.

    Thanks.

Re: Replication taking place one way

From what I can see you need to this one and provide more info depending on whats been done to your servers since just before this started.
It could be anything from a changed volume name to a couple of hotfixes from MS.
even changing an array can affect it.

    Hope this helps

The only other resolution I could see for this was in Google Groups. The only problem was the resolution was to strip them down and start again which is not always an option.

Are your errors in the System log or File replication service ?
Is there anything in the Directory Service Log?

Re: Replication taking place one way

          Hi all,

I have filtered down to some COM+ problems. Whenever i try to see DCOMCNFG -> Component Services -> Computers -> My Computer -> COM+ Applications

it pops up the window saying :

An error occurred while processing the last operation.

          Error code - 80070422

Whenever i try to change the properties of DCOMCNFG -> Component Services -> Computers -> My Computer -> Right click properties -> enable distributed com on this computer

          MMC crashes.

Any help will be really appreciated. thanks.

Re: Replication taking place one way

Curious, it looks as though there's corruption or a registary error?

I've got a 2003 server here and tried to see if was a generic error but alass not

Most of the instances of COM+ failures seem to relate to XP however I did find this Clean up damage COM= catalog on technet it may help.

Its sounding more and more like a call to MS unless your in a position to reconfigure the problem DC ?

Re: Replication taking place one way

The COM+ error has been sorted out by starting the service COM+ event notification. Dont know what made it shutdown. Anyways the problem still persists.

When i ran dcdiag test i am getting only this error rest all of the test seems to pass.

              Starting test: Services
IsmServ service is stopped on [DC]

              Any ideas ?

Re: Replication taking place one way

Is AD replication working properly in both directions ?

dcdiag/netdiag/replmon/repadmin are your friends to run some diagnostics tests.
