  • GPO software installation

Can anyone shed any light on installing software through a GPO in AD. I am trying to set up an Office 2003 OU to deploy to PC's. I have created an MST file and and deposited it along with the MSI file in a network share location for software deployment. I have created a new package in AD and applied the GPO to my OU. When I reboot my test PC gpresult shows that the policy was applied but no software is installed and no errors are displayed........very frustrating. Any suggestions??

    Re: GPO software installation

Well everything may have worked the way it was designed to depending on the options you selected for deploying the software. Assigning and publishing have very different effects as well as if you use the Computer Configuration or the User Configuration.

Take a look at the following link and post back with any questions.

      Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for that but I worked it out. It was actually my test PC that was faulty!!!!

        Glad you got it sorted.
Would you mind sharing what the issue was and how you fixed it? It may help others who are having the same issue.
