  • Domain Controller Downtime - 3 Dc's

First i will explain our enviornment

Dc1 is 2003 standard sp1 with all updates
Dc2 is 2003 standard sp1 with all updates
Dc3 is 2003 standard sp1 with all updates

DC1 was first DC in the domain after a big migration project moving from a NT 4.0 domain
DC 2 is RID, PDC, Infrastructure
DC 3 is schema, Domain Naming

DC 1 is a Global Catalog
    DC 2 isnt
DC 3 is a Global Catalog

    The domain level is 2003

My question was that if by some chance we had an issue where we lost a nic or a power supply and our MOM servers/other monitoring devices failed to notify us of these issues. Would their be a critical problem within active directory to the point we wouldn't be able to restore from or have major problems. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. Such as a machine being down and unable to talk to active directory for 6 or 8 hours.

Thanks. If anyone needs any further information please shoot me a p/m and i can add it to this post.

As long as you do not exceed 180 days of tombstone lifetime period, the AD will happily survive those minor downtimes.
