  • DNS Strange Happenings

I will try to keep this as short as possible.

I just upgraded 2 DCs from W2K to W2K3. Here is the general config.

    -Active Directory Integrated Zone
-10.0.*.* addresses internally and everyone is routed through a firewall to a Cisco Internet Router to BellSouth DNS for Internet name resolution

Before the upgrade, everything was working 100%. After the upgrade, everything appears OK, except that now we can not view a few web sites.
    Here they are.

    sarc.com
    foxnews.com
wftv.com >> Note, we can view the page, but the graphics are being pulled from another domain (ibsys.com) that can not be viewed
We don't seem to be having a problem getting to any other sites.

    Troubleshooting!
No strange events in the Event Viewer
    NSLOOKUP resolved properly
Using the IP, we can bring up the page in the browser
The records in DNS Cache appear to be correct

-Is this occuring on multiple machines or just one?
-Are you using a local DNS server then forwarding external lookups [forward lookup zone] to the ISP's DNS - just wanted to clarify.
-Are you using the router as a DNS proxy or are the DNS settings entered directly into the client?
    -Check the HOSTS file.
-Flush the DNS cache on the client [ipconfig /flushdns]

You've already eluded to the fact that you believe this to be a DNS issue and I agree. If you can browse using the IP address it is most likely DNS related.
