    Re: slow database access

    What have you done to investigate the problems?
    For example:
    Performance Monitor on the server
    SQL Tracing and Profiling
    Network monitoring e.g. WireShark

    What sort of work is being done on the server?
    What version and Service Pack are you using for SQL server?

      SAP B1 is used for our ERP ;

      for performance monitoring with windows task manager performance are:

      sqlserver.exe reach and used half of entire memory almost 3GB.....cpu usage shows ...3 or 4%; PF usage shows and reach to 4GB.....
      Gigabit lan card with 1% or less usage......

        Re: slow database access

        SQL makes use of as much available memory as it can so you are seeing normal behaviour
        Are these figures when the server is behaving normally or abnormally?

          Re: slow database access

          summerrose, I'm confused. Ossian said It's normal for SQL to take as much memory as is available - it may not need it, but it will take it..
          It releases whatever it's not using if something else needs it.
          So you cna't "fix it"

          For the OP - have you tried looking for database locks ?
