  • Shared feature greyed out

    Hi,

I am trying to install SQL Server and point it to a different drive (E drive) as my C drive is full.

When going through the install steps, when I get to the Feature Selection page, the shared feature directory is grayed out. I installed it previously to coincide with Sharepoint 2010.

I have uninstalled the previous instance and reinstalled (also deleting the folders with SQL in the c drive).

I have tried googling but I didn't find anything conclusive.

I have also tried running this switch:
    e:\setup.exe /action=install /INSTALLSHAREDDIR=E:\SQLshared\x64? /INSTALLSHAREDWOWDIR=E:\SQLshared\x86?

However, it didn't hardset the shared features into an alternate directory.

I am trying to delete the folders in the program files/MSSQL folder but the 90 and 100 folder give the error: The action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program.

    Appreciate the help.

    Thanks,

    Phil
