  • SQL Express 2008 R2 for Enterprise Vault.

    Hi,

Has anyone installed SQL Express 2008 R2 when using Symantec Enterprise Vault to save on costs.

I have done this in a test environment and everything seems to work fine but express is listed as N when you check the compatibility guide.

Not getting many answers when querying Symantec themselves and wondered what anyone else's thoughts were?

Obviously there is a 10GB DB limit when considering this and at the moment we have no idea how big the DB will grow to be honest.

    Any experience and comments welcome.

    Cheers

Since EV is an enterprise solution for archiving email, documents and other content, I suspect 10Gb is a drop in the ocean (even with de-duplication). Look at your current email and file stores to give you an idea of the sort of sizes you are looking at.

Given the price of EV, isn't saving $1800 ish for SQL Standard a bit like cutting off your own nose to spite your face?
