  • Can 2 physical servers do failover clustering ?

    hi all,

I like to find out if its possible to do SQL 2008 failover clustering with only 2 physical servers. I do not have SAN or iSCSI at the moment. I'm wondering how will the DB sync between them.

Having two servers is quite enough, but you still need shared storage. Without iSCSI or SAN, a failover cluster is not possible.

Depending on your setup requirements, you might be able to put up poor man's cluster with combining NLB and database mirroring. These might work at least in test environments. For production, really consider getting iSCSI or SAN.
